Transformers and Movies

I'm just sitting here bored on the computer wondering how is it that the internets could be so huge yet so boring sometimes. I need a job. Anyways, in my browsing of the web of the world I have noticed a ton of previews for the new Transformers movie and I must say that I'm just not really that excited for it and I will tell you why. The first transformer movie just confused the heck out of me. The whole time I had no idea what was going on, if there was a plot, they only talked about it a couple of times. The transformers don't have much of a form at all when they are not in a GM car form, they looked like a giant heap of metal shards, so when they fought it looked like an even more giant heap of metal shards and you had no idea who is who and if the good guy is winning or losing. To make matters even worse, they put these fight scenes on screen with an extreme close up to prevent any coherence. I'm just getting started here, also the real actors were so stupid that nothing ever made sense and I was confused to whole time as to whether something was supposed to be serious or a joke, Like where the FBI or CIA or whoever comes to Lewis Steven's house at first I thought that was a serious part but afterwards I think it may have been intending to be funny, I have no idea. Also the parents are like the biggest morons ever and they need acting lessons so I got confused with them too, I had no idea what was serious or if there was supposed to be anything serious. When I first watched it, I think I enjoyed it some, I loved Transformers as a kid, and so just to see the whole idea brought to a movie was cool for me. But over time, I realize that it was rude of them to tempt me with awesome transformers and make such a crappy movie. And my youthful love of transformers is what brings me to my final point that is the biggest let down of the movie, and is also the main reason that I don't want to see the new one. The Transformers in the movie are totally wimpy! The decepticons are these totally awesome fighters and the autobots are a bunch of pansies. its only the humans that kill the bad guys and the good transformers just get whooped the whole time. When I was little Optimus Prime was the coolest robot ever, and on the cartoon he was so cool. I wonder how the writing process of this film went, they probably thought, "You know what would make a great movie? lets take the greatest hero and make him totally gay and lame." Well it didn't impress me any. If the true Optimus was in this movie, he would have looked less like scrap metal and he would have kicked Megatron's bootay. Instead he gives speeches while being thrown off buildings and ripped to shreds. And in the end Lewis Stevens takes a break from patty cake to put his favorite box on megatron's heart, which is so tender that it breaks his heart and he goes into a coma. Talk about the stupidest ending I have ever witnessed. There are actually a few other movies that embrace the "make the hero look gay at the end" strategy, for example Iron Man, which I did like that movie, but was disappointed at the end when iron man is about to bite the dust and he calls his girlfriend pepperpan on the phone and she kills the bad guy! Bahahaha its like a scooby doo plot development or something! How bout a better ending? I'll write it now, Iron man, after making the bad guy freeze, rips out the real glowy heart thing and powers his suit to 100% and then rips the bad guy's body in half and flips him off as he crashes and burns on the ground below! I got excited just thinking about that ending! I'll just pretend it was the real one! So anyways this post has been very rambly, and I should probably stop, but the moral is, Transformers the first movie sucked and I hope the second is better but I'm not wasting money to see it in the theater. What does everyone else think of these movies? And do you, like me, think that the "make the hero a wuss" strategy is totally lame? Please comment!

Black Clouds and Silver Linings

So this morning I went and purchased Dream Theater's 11th album "Black Clouds and Silver linings" and it is quite an awesome CD. The whole situation was pretty funny though because Ethan was also getting it first thing this morning, but luckily Utah time is an hour ahead and I was able to get it an hour earlier than he was. As soon as a bought it I sent him a picture message of the album and then I continued sending a bunch of texts about how awesome each track was as I listened to them, eventually he couldnt take it and he sent me this message, "I cant take it! Im not talking to you till I listen to it!" It was so funny, its always been my tradition to find a way to get CDs before Ethan does and torment him with it. It was usually pretty easy because he would be in school or something, but I was lucky enough this time to be living in Utah. But anyways, for those who are interested in freakin awesome progressive metal the album is incredible, I was even more impressed with it than with Systematic Chaos, their previous album, which was also great. This one has really brought all of their greatest elements together, it has hard metal sounding guitar parts mixed in with a very progressive feel. And it also slows down at times to give the whole thing a really balanced feel to it. So cool. On top of the album being really great, they released a special edition which includes a CD of cover songs they did of awesome bands like Queen and Dio, which I am listening to right now, and then a 3rd CD that is their album but instrumental only. So if you love progressive metal go get it now, and if you're a little curious but have never ventured into the realm of prog metal then go buy it, you will thank me, just ask Kyle. Anyways, I'm gonna go continue my listening adventure! Tchau!

Ranch Dressing

So earlier today I was making some home made ranch dressing because its so much better than the store bought. Which I was wondering... how is it, that if the store bought Hidden Valley and the home made (which is just made with a Hidden Valley packet mixed with mayo and milk) can taste totally different? They are the same brand and if they realize the mixed up one tastes so much better then why don't they just make the pre-made stuff taste the same? Strange... but anyway while I was making this delicious dressing/dipping sauce I arrived at my favorite step which is vigorously mixing the concoction. I'm real good at the vigorous part, however today It wasn't my favorite step because I forgot to securely fasten the lid down and when I started shaking it went everywhere. It almost felt like it exploded, most of it went on my face and in my ear, but it also covered half of the kitchen with little droplets, which were really annoying to find them all and clean them. Luckily not to much spilled and I was able to salvage most of it and I proceeded to enjoy it poured over a delicious garden salad. This wasn't the first time my vigorous shaking got me in trouble, once I was making mac and cheese and I was trying to make fun of how Casey would shake the little cheese powder packet and I shook it real hard over my head and the part in my hand ripped away from the rest of it, which flew across the kitchen and smacked the dishwasher and exploded cheesy dust everywhere. So maybe when I am tempted to go crazy with my mixing or shaking, I just need to remember to chill a little.

PS. I'm still trying to figure this blog thing out, although I did research on how to put your own background on it, and the fantastic spacey scene I got there looks out of this world! Soon Ill figure out other things and this blog's power level is gonna go through the roof!
